The Belinfante Quartet is a young and dynamic string quartet from the Netherlands. Its members, Olivia Doflein, Fiona Robertson, Sophie Vroegop and Pau Marquès i Oleo, met after studying in different countries: England, Scotland, Galicia and Catalonia and the Netherlands.

Since their debut in September 2016, they have already performed on many concert stages in both the Netherlands and Spain. Recently, they played in the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) and the Muziekgebouw Frits Philips (Eindhoven). With the aim to share their passion for music with a diverse audience, they have performed as well in more intimate settings such as local chamber music series.

They perform works from the core of the string quartet repertoire with fresh energy, and combine this with lesser-known works which are just as deserving of their love. The quartet also likes to work together with artists from other disciplines, and have recently joined actor Rob Broek and illustrator Baltus Wigersma to create a family performance based on the Kinderalbum of Tchaikovsky.

The quartet has studied with Mikhail Zemtsov and Sebastian Kolosky (Utrecht String Quartet) and Prunella Pacey (Allegri String Quartet). They have also had masterclasses with Gregor Sigl (Artemis Quartet).

With their name, they would like to honour Frieda Belinfante, who was a cellist, a teacher and the first professional female conductor in Europe. Her sincerity, perseverance and fervor, in music as well as in other aspects of her life, are a magnificent source of inspiration.
